I’ve been thinking a lot about how in our culture, we tend to go for world domination, or immortality.
Go to (>1) day event or retreat - “how can we stay connected forever?”
Sustainability is the watchword. We want to buy videogames that will continue to update forever. Brands take on a life of their own. Once a company has a great product, they try to expand into new areas. Mergers, acquisitions, new markets are key.
Can’t we just enjoy things for what they are?
Why can’t we let blogs die, groups putter out, friendships to fade, and success to speak for themselves?
Look at facebook. Facebook gives friendship an immortality - you stay friends until you consciously decide otherwise. Every cool experience has a facebook group dedicated to it. Every organization grasps for more and more fans.
Perhaps there’s an alternative.
